Welcome to my new blog. My name is Chad Green and I'm a software engineer working for EDS. With EDS I work on the MILRIC account which provides technical support to the United States Army Accessions Command (USAAC).
My primary job at USAAC is Technical Lead on a project called Information Technology Acquisition Support System (ITASS). ITASS is responsible for the acquisition of information technology within USAAC. The application is currently an ASP.NET 2.0 application written in VB.NET. We have a release going to test in the next couple of weeks that upgrade it to .NET 3.5.
My general technical expertise is .NET technologies and solution architecture. I specialized in Visual Basic .NET and as such have been working with Visual Basic in some form since version 1 and before that QuickBasic. I have done a little bit of work with C and Java, but I prefer Visual Basic and have been lucky to have a job that allows to me to continue working with it.
I'm also really big into education. I'm currently in my third year with the St. Rita School (Louisville, KY) School Board and my second as its President. I also serve as the Chairperson for the school's Technology and Handbook committee and sit on the school's Finance and Press Relations committees.
My religion is also very important to me. Obviously I'm catholic (if you didn't get that from my daughter's school). While I have done several things throughout out the years for St. Rita, I currently help out as a greeter and usher.
Another passion of mine is cycling. I have been involved off and on with serious cycling since I was 14. I just concluded two years as the Vice President of Touring for the Louisville Bicycle Club.
My two main intentions of this blog is to post (hopefully) useful information about .NET application development and some of my personal insights
